Singer Britney Spears, who turned 43 this week, recently told her fans in an Instagram video that she shifted to Mexico to escape “cruel" paparazzi attention. Spears shared the video as part of a birthday message on Tuesday.

“It really kind of hurts my feelings that the paparazzi make my face look like I am wearing a white Jason mask, and it doesn’t even look like me," she said in the viral video.

Claiming that the paparazzi were “incredibly cruel" to her, the American singer-dancer said she was not perfect at all, adding some of it was “extremely mean and cruel".

“They have always been incredibly cruel to me, the paparazzi and pictures and the way they have illustrated me to be in some of it. I know I am not perfect at all, by any means, but some of it is extremely mean and cruel, and that’s why I have moved to Mexico," the ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’ singer said.

“Cheers !!! It’s my bday," she wrote alongside the video.

Spears later shared another video in which she acknowledged her birth and quipped that she was actually “turning 5".

“I am turning five this year… and I have to go to kindergarten tomorrow," she said.

The ‘Toxic’ singer, meanwhile, is not the only person who has announced to have moved out of the US in recent times.

Last month, actor Eva Longoria shared that she, along with her husband Jose Baston and their six-year-old son Santiago, have been splitting time between staying in Spain and Mexico City, according to a report by the Independent.

In an interview, Longoria asserted that she was noticing that Los Angeles was changing to the point where her family no longer wished to stay anymore.

“I had my whole adult life here," Longoria said while talking about California. “But even before (the COVID-19 pandemic), it was changing. The vibe was different. And then Covid happened, and it pushed it over the edge."

She added, “Whether it’s the homelessness or the taxes, not that I want to s*** on California – it just feels like this chapter in my life is done now."

Further, she acknowledged that she considered herself “privileged" to be able to shift countries.

“I get to escape and go somewhere. Most Americans aren’t so lucky. They’re going to be stuck in this dystopian country, and my anxiety and sadness is for them," she said.
